Mohs Surgery

Mohs Micrographic Surgery (also known as Microscopically Controlled Excision, Mohs Chemosurgery, or simply Mohs Surgery) is the surgical technique we use for the treatment of skin cancer. Even though this technique was invented back in the 1930’s, it has continued to be refined over the years and is considered to be the “Gold Standard” of your skin cancer treatment options.

The goal of Mohs Surgery is to preserve normal tissue while totally removing the skin cancer. The mapping and removal is so precise that the technique assures the highest possible cure rate and at the same time, the smallest possible tumor free wound. This method requires specialized surgical training beyond Dermatology including Pathology, and Reconstructive Surgery that is only found in a Fellowship Training Program.
